Perfect Crispy Taters
Getting the perfect baked taters isn't nearly as simple as it seems. When you are craving the healthier alternative to fresh fries you need something equally as satisfying. This recipe provides you with a perfect way to achieve the crispiest potatoes without the deep fryer.
- 3-4 medium potatoes, washed and thinly sliced or wedged
- 1 bowl of cold water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- Dish towels
- Baking sheet
Place the potatoes in the bowl of water and allow them to sit for 1 hour. This helps to remove excess starch.
Remove the potatoes from the water and place them in a single layer across a tea towel with another tea towel on top. Allow them to dry for 15-20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees
Place the potatoes on a baking sheet and coat with oil. Sprinkle with salt and place in the oven.
Cook the potatoes for 8-10 minutes before turning. Watch them carefully as oven heats often vary. Cook for an additional 4-6 minutes and lower the heat to 375 degrees. Continue to cook for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through and crisp.
