Afternoon Delight Mint Cucumber Smoothie
If you're trying to lose weight or just stay in your best shape, you may want to avoid a lot of fruit after lunch. Fruit is called nature's candy because it contains a lot of natural sugar. Natural or not, that sugar can spike your blood sugar and lead to weight gain. Now, that doesn't mean you should never eat fruit—it's too delicious and nutritious not to—just be aware of how much you consume after noon.
This minty, green smoothie is the perfect afternoon treat if you're craving something sweet and it's a much better alternative to a fruit-filled drink. The pear or apple and banana add sweetness, so you're not drinking a salad, without giving you a big sugar rush. Drink it to survive until dinner or re-energize you after, well, whatever kind of afternoon *ahem* workout you're into.
- 1/2 a banana

- four to five mint leaves
- a small handful of spinach leaves
- a small pear or apple, peeled
- 1 cup of almond milk
- 1/2 cup of water
This recipe will make one big or two small servings.
